First Pour

> I love Mondays!
Today I felt like good food and coffee, and it is such a beautiful day a walk to another new place in my neighborhood from the Coffee Review app.
THREE BAGS FULL, Yes sir, yes sir, that is the name of the cafe.
A reasonably new one in Abbotsford about 1km from my place.
It's Monday at 1.30pm and the place is busy. I wonder what all these people are doing here and not at work!
No Joe I didn't have to queue.. I guess the weekends are different here. I did read people having to wait for 20-50 mins on the weekends.

I sit at the communal table, a woman arrives shortly after me and makes a bit sigh and says "oh and it's only Monday". she has stopped for lunch with a colleague and has her work folders under her arm. I say I know what you mean.
Today when I woke up I thought I love Mondays now. I have so much time and I can take it slowly and enjoy it. I look forward to the things I have planned to do... Meet someone for breakfast one day, meet more people for lunch 3 other days, have dinner with my Son one night and stay at his house out of town. Read my book, plan my weekly menu and shop at all the great food places. And then just kick back and chill with my own thoughts. No pressure to do anything or be anywhere. I didn't have the heart to tell the woman I am sitting opposite, that I now love Mondays because they are all mine! I used to love Fridays, the end of the work week. Often my work from home day.

My food choice is Parmesan poached eggs with proscuitto and truffle oil, on thick multigrain sourdough Yumm.I also have a carrot, beetroot, ginger and lemon juice which comes in a giant class with ice. sorry no photo I was starving!
Then comes the coffee which was also great.
The atmosphere at Three Bags Full is very relaxed and exceptionally friendly. Table service from the waiters is great, they walk around and keep an eye on you in stead of disappearing and being no where to be found when you want them, and the noise level is ok. It is located in and old hat factory warehouse which is pretty typical around this part of Melbourne.
Another great choice to add to my list of places to return to... But perhaps not on the weekends!

I love Mondays, and all the other days of the week now....
What's your favorite day of the week, and why?

Enjoy my second pour!

My FIRST POUR of Coffee

Today I wanted great coffee.

I used an iPhone application specifically designed for Melbourian coffee lovers called TOP 100 coffee review. I figured I should at least start with options that had been reviewed and tried by others.

I used the 'near by' filter to search for places within a 1km range of my home in Richmond.
The nearest place was only 400m away. Wow. How come I had not already heard of this place?

The Cafe is called First Pour AT 26 Bond Street. Abbotsford. Well probably because it is in a one way street right next to the Brewery with no other shops or cafes in the street.
After placing my order and chatting with the barista I discover that right next door is the place they roast the beans they import from places all over the world. They sell their beans to many places around Australia and have First Pour Cafes in Brisbane, Canberra and here.

The cafe is decorated with lots of coffee gadgets and signages from around the world.

The coffee was fantastic, today I was drinking Honduras COE #6.

Great atmosphere, very friendly, casual, many different people coming in, ordering take away and some staying to drink the coffee. They have set up 3 different areas in the cafe, meeting rooms out the back, a main cafe, and a couch area at the side with 2 brilliant red leather couches facing each other with a coffee table in the centre.

Free wireless Internet, cool music, well lit, a small selection of sweet food options, they don't do savory as yet. So this would be a place ideal for a coffee to do some work, reading, blogging, meetings, but not for a meal over lunch or breaky.

I realize how much my work at HP had taken over my life. I really have not ventured even 500m from home to see the world around me....and discover it.

I am really looking forward to the discovery and those experiences I plan to have.. The small things in life really do matter.

Taking time to taste, see, smell, touch, and feel and think... You know I might love this sabbatical time of 90 days so much...I may not get back to work for a lot longer time.

First Pour i think might become a new place for my coffee...

By the next edition I will hopefully have worked out how to incorporate a photo into my email from my iPad!
